is responsible for all human resources functions including leadership development, benefits administration, workforce planning, and the administration of all employee contracts and functions related to those contracts affecting the Educational Assistants Unit (EAA). the Clerical Unit (UAW). the Administative Unit (SAU). the Teachers' Unit (SEA). the Custodial Unit (Local 1083). and the Non-Certified Administrators (MAA). To equitably administer all aspects of each group's contract To coordinate recruitment, assignment, transfer and retirement for all employees within the Stamford Public School System. To implement the District's Affirmative Action Program and respond to the mandated procedures involving personnel.

consist of guidance counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, speech and language pathologists. and teachers of the hearing impaired and teachers of the visually impaired. Services are provjded to all students and extensively to students identified as disabled. Services provided by these personnel include those mandated as part of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Services are provided to all puplic schools, local private schools and charter schools. To provide support services to assist students to derive benefits from the general education offerings.

Interesting comparisons:

The biggest budget item is Human Capital Development (which does not include teacher salaries. Those are included in the individual program items).
We spend as much money on teaching math or science as we do on physical education (includes some health education but no interscholastic sports).
We actually spend more money on art and music combined than on math or science or learning a foreign language. The least funded is actually challenging our brightest children. Programs for the gifted and talented have been gradually reduced and are at the point of becoming extinct.
