A Website for stamford parents
The following list is a work in progress and, like so much stuff
on the web, under construction. We have visited almost
every place on this list, some a lot more than once, and can highly
recommend them. unless noted otherwise :-)
Check out the city of Stamford's web page for more info.
Hiking:Please be aware that we have problems with ticks and Lyme Disease. Check your kids and yourself after hiking.
Great for elementary school age children. I love the
"new" Animal Embassy. The volunteers and staff is great
and very knowledgeable. They also have a wonderful
"Nature's Playground" that even older kids might enjoy.
Working farm, live animals, observatory, events, museums
& exhibits, nature trails, many activities for children
They have some nice trails that are great for smaller
kids, too. Our kids love the "swamp" trail.
Great hiking trails for families. They also have a small
nature education center.
Longer trails. Walking, hiking, biking & fishing in
park. Dawn-dusk daily. Aprox 220 acres.

sleddingThere are some great areas people go sledding. A lot of people sled at Sterling Farm Golf Course or at the Sara Walker Nursery School. I do not know about the legal situation. Both properties are privately owned. So please keep this in mind while sledding. |
